Thank you for considering Camp Ramah in Canada, now celebrating 50 years of camping excellence. I know your children are your most prized possessions and picking a camp is a serious decision. We would be honoured to have your child spend the summer with us to experience the summer of a lifetime.
I am often asked by prospective camp families - what is most special about Camp Ramah in Canada. There are many aspects of camp I believe to be truly noteworthy. Among these: the beauty of our Muskoka setting; a skills based program which helps each child build a balanced sense of self and community; dedicated counselors who want to provide the next generation of Ramah campers with the same mentoring and Jewish role models they enjoyed at camp; and a wonderful set of traditions, many dating back to our opening in 1960, which have provided a powerful sense of continuity as campers return each summer throughout the formative years of their lives.
That's the camp director speaking, of course. If you ask our younger campers, they'll simply tell you, what makes Camp Ramah in Canada special to them, is the fun and the friends. Our older campers will tell you it's also about feeling free from the pressures they experience at school, and getting away from modern technology to experience Shabbat in a simpler, more natural world. Indeed, I think every camper would say there is no place in the world like Camp Ramah in Canada.
Various parts of this website provide lots of information about Camp Ramah's setting and program. As special as these are, there is something even more unique about Camp Ramah in Canada. That is the deep sense of attachment which campers, counselors, and alumni from across North America and around the world all feel towards their camp. To those who have not spent time in our beautiful setting, it is difficult to communicate this intangible sense of belonging, much less the spirit of love and loyalty, which Ramaniks share. You may see it in their smiles and read about it in the words that our campers, staff and alumni share. You may hear it in their laughter, and in the songs they sing - the same spirit-filled songs generations of campers have sung in the past and will sing for years to come.
This summer we hope you will join in! Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
