IDENTIFY EVERY ARTICLE
Every item of clothing and equipment must be labeled with the child's FULL NAME for identification. Experience has proven that most personal belongings that are lost at camp were never labeled or were labeled improperly. Every article, which will be laundered, should have a wash-proof nametape sewn on. "Indelible" inks and stamps may wash out in the laundry. Items upon which name tapes cannot be sewn, such as shoes, tennis balls, etc. should be marked with indelible ink. (www.campramah.lovablelabels.ca)

Please note: Camp Ramah assumes no responsibility for wear and tear or for loss of campers' clothing or other equipment. Of course, every effort will be made to protect your child's belongings. Should you desire insurance coverage for your child's clothing, luggage, and other personal belongings, we suggest that you arrange with your insurance agent for a floater policy to cover such loss or damage.

BAGGAGE
Each camper will receive 2 baggage tags. Yellow tags are to be used for boys and pink for girls. Please attach these to your child's duffel bags so that they may be directed to the proper location upon their arrival at camp. PLEASE LIMIT YOUR CHILD'S BELONGINGS TO THESE TWO DUFFEL BAGS ONLY! The tags will be sent in our final mailing.

PACKING THE OUTFIT
Duffel bags are the most efficient and convenient means of packing for camp. Due to limited storage space, TRUNKS ARE NOT PERMITTED. Large cases present great problems for storage and handling, and add considerably to transportation costs. Please place a complete itemized list of your child's belongings inside the duffel.

Each child is provided with a small amount of closet space and a clothing cubby. Space is limited! Clothing must fit into the space provided. Problems arise when a child has packed too many items of clothing to fit into the spaces allotted. It becomes difficult to keep clothes off the floor and to keep the tzrif (cabin) clean. Campers who arrive with more clothing than fits in the allotted space will have to pack up the extra clothes and will not have easy access to them. Laundry is sent out once a week.

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN CAMP
  • Fans
  • Heaters
  • Electronic Equip.
  • Candles
  • Power Bars
  • Stereos
  • Lighters/Matches
  • Lamps
  • Snack masters
  • Hot pots
  • T.V’s
  • Amplifiers

  • In the interest of maintaining a camp atmosphere, we request that NO video games (Nintendo, Game Boy, etc) be brought to camp. We have found that having the games is disruptive to the program schedule, Shabbat atmosphere, the sense of equality in the tzrif, and provides temptation to "borrow" the games.

These items are not part of camp life and will be removed from the cabins. We cannot be responsible for loss of, or damage to, any of this equipment. We are committed to keeping the camp safe. Thank you in advance for your co-operation and assistance.

Please note: We take many precautions to help ensure the safety of everyone at camp. Each cabin has its own fire extinguisher and smoke detector. Staff and campers practice emergency procedures on a regular basis, electrical wiring is checked, and staff are present in the cabins providing supervision.

All of these precautions help minimize the risks of fire, but more needs to be done. We are asking you to help keep your child safe at camp by ensuring that she or he does not bring items that may increase the risk of fire.

    MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Campers are encouraged to bring their musical instruments to camp. They will have ample opportunity to use them to their and the camp's benefit.

    NO FOOD IN CABINS

Each year certain problems arise from having too much food in the cabins, including problems associated with jealousy, unhealthy eating habits, hygiene, and the potential for insects, rodents and other animals. Based on extensive feedback from parents, the Ramah Committee has instituted a policy that prohibits campers and staff from having any food in the cabin. We reserve the right to inspect the personal belongings of both campers and staff in the presence of the person whose belongings are being inspected, and any food that is found will be immediately confiscated. Candy, ice cream and healthier snacks in plentiful supply will be made available throughout the day and during the evening hours.
