GRATUITIES -“A mitzvah is its own reward” (Pirkei Avot 4:2)
Staff at Camp Ramah is engaged in an important educational enterprise. They are dedicated to this task. As professional educators, who do their utmost for each individual, they may not accept any gratuities. Please do not embarrass them by offering either money or gifts.

Appreciation can be shown by making a contribution in a staff member’s name to the Staff Appreciation Fund. A card will be sent to the staff member in whose name the gift is made. Contributions may be made in the camp office and will be used to enhance staff life at camp.

Please, make all checks payable to : Camp Ramah in Canada.

SPENDING MONEY
Camp operates a kiosk (canteen) with snacks and beverages. Campers will have the opportunity to choose a few items at least twice a week. There is limited opportunity for campers to spend their own money at camp (pop/soda/water machines). We therefore ask campers to limit the cash ($5) they bring to camp.

Any cash or valuables that are brought to camp must be placed in the camp safe for their safekeeping. Our insurance does not cover loss or theft of cash or valuables in cabins.

Each child will be provided with a camp memento and edah (unit) photograph at camp. Charges for these items have been included on your statement of account.

CANADIAN POSTAGE
Parents of United States campers are reminded that 96 cent Canadian postage stamps must be used on all mail from Canada to the U.S., 52 cent stamps within Canada, and envelopes should not be pre-stamped with U.S. postage. Canadian postage stamps will be available at the camp kiosk. Please understand that camp has no control over the efficiency of the local postal service.

LETTERS FROM CAMPERS
Campers are required to write or e-mail letters home two times each week. Other letters may be addressed to relatives and friends. Please note - occasionally, letters will get lost in the mail. Therefore, parents may miss a letter. A letter may also be delayed if the child mails it on Friday. There is no mail pick-up between noon Friday and noon Monday. Infrequent, brief, or minimal communication in letters from campers should assure parents that their children are busy having a good time and are happy. You may wish to provide your child with self-addressed, properly pre-stamped (Canadian stamps) envelopes. The Post Office recommends using your home return address (not the camp address).

LETTERS FROM HOME
We know from long experience that your child wants to hear from you at least as much as you want to hear from him/her, and is likely to be disappointed if he/she receives no mail. WRITE TO YOUR CHILD OFTEN, and address all mail as follows:
Camper's Name, Cabin #____
Camp Ramah In Canada
RR1 Utterson, Ontario, CANADA, P0B 1MO
It is a good idea to mail your first letter one week before camp begins.

If you will be away from home during the summer, please inform the camp in writing of your itinerary and emergency contact.

EMAIL SERVICE
Parents will be able to set up a separate email account for each child through Bunk1 prior to the start of camp. An important feature of this service is that only text messages may be sent. Please be aware that this email service does not allow for any attachments to the text messages. Incoming emails will be printed and sorted once a day and distributed each weekday together with incoming mail for all campers.
